Accessibility Doesn’t Stop Indoors: Extending Access to Trails

SORP · April 15, 2026

This webinar walks through how Connecticut developed and implemented a statewide all terrain wheelchair program across multiple state parks, with a focus on the behind the scenes decisions that make these programs functional and sustainable. Participants will learn what needs to happen before a chair ever reaches a trail, including procurement, staff training, site selection, risk management, reservations, and public communication. The session emphasizes practical lessons learned that other agencies can apply when launching or expanding adaptive mobility programs in parks and green spaces.
