Intro to the Outdoor Recreation Access and Participation Survey

The ORAPS is a cost-efficient, standardized, scientifically rigorous system for collecting and disseminating information on outdoor recreation access, constraints, needs, participation, and benefits for U.S. households at the county, state, and national levels. Modules on access, health, economics, and time in nature are also core to the ORAPS. We have proposed a two-step implementation to the National Park Service's Land and Water Conservation Fund program: 1) An initial 50-state survey (plus the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories) to provide baseline national data representative at the state-level, followed by 2) a rotating 5-year cycle collecting county-block-level data in ten states and one U.S. territory per year. This webinar is designed to introduce state liaisons, state park directors, grant administrators, and others who support outdoor access to the ORAPS project and to garner further support for implementation.
